Speakers

What better way could one reflect upon how to engage such a challenging world and bold initiative than to place oneself with Ignatius as he contemplates Christ’s mission in the Incarnation meditation? This prayerful context will shape our weekend, with three keynote speakers inviting us to contemplate being on mission with Christ Incarnate today.

Using contemporary film as a way of contemplating our culture, Monty will sketch out the challenges and opportunities facing those who would go on mission today. What are the shape and tenor of the world we face today? Where do we hear God’s invitation to listen to our world?

Awakening to God’s Dream (Saturday morning)

Ms. Margaret Silf

Ms. Margaret Silf

Author of Inner Compass, Close to the Heart and Companions of Christ
Internationally recognized lecturer on Ignatian Spirituality

God’s Dream is striving to come to birth in every moment, every encounter and every relationship of each one of us – if we consent, and to the extent that we are willing to co-operate with this great vision. The Spiritual Exercises provide both the invitation, and the tools and resources to awaken each other and ourselves to that Dream and to allow it to become incarnate in our lives. The dynamic of the Spiritual Exercises has the power to change such a vision from pious cliche? to real action in a real world, and from private prayer to world-changing response. How can we live it and communicate it in our world today?

Bill was engaged in a creative ministry in Mexico for 30 years and another 6 in the U.S. with Hispanic communities. At present he is working with the Institute on Migration, Culture and Ministry in the Southern U.S. He will explore the joy of thinking outside the box in response to the need for creativity as we enter a new world that has few of the hallmarks of earlier ages, to create communities of welcome and outreach enabling others to engage.
