"A Discernment, with spirits" Reception at Fairfield
Participants in the Program in Directing the Spiritual Exercises co-sponsored by Fairfield University and The Jesuit Collaborative (TJC), program faculty members, Ignatian ministry practitioners, and friends of TJC gathered at Bellarmine Hall on the campus of Fairfield University for a delightful summer evening of fellowship and refreshment. Jim Conroy, S.J., TJC's executive director, welcomed the guests, and Jim Bowler, S.J., faculty member, spoke about the program within the context of collaboration. Guests also heard Francisco Jimenez Buendia, S.J., and Jean Strazzabosco share their reflections on the consolations of being involved in the program and training in Ignatian ministry.
Training people in the ministry of the Spiritual Exercises is a major goal of the The Jesuit Collaborative. Ten women and men graduated from the program at Fairfield this summer. Looking forward, a new cohort will begin the program at Fairfield next summer. TJC is also collaborating with other institutions to conduct training in directing the Spiritual Exercises including the Pneuma Program at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Holy Trinity Church in Washington, D.C., and The Jesuit Center in Wernersville, PA.
