Ongoing Formation for Jesuits

Fifteen Jesuits responded to the invitation to learn and lead Ignatian 19th Annotation Retreats, and to hone their listening and discerning skills for spiritual direction. Sponsored by the Collaborative, the course is taking place in seven all-day Saturday sessions, which began in October and go through May at Campion Renewal Center in Weston, Massachusetts.
Saint Ignatius describes two different ways to make the complete Spiritual Exercises: one is, of course, the thirty-day retreat, done in a silent place apart from the routines and attractions of daily life in this world. Another is for those men and women who cannot find a month to spare, but who can pray and meet regularly with a retreat director to talk about what is happening with them.
The Jesuits involved were challenged to look again at their own conviction and experience of God active in their lives, and practiced how to stay out of a retreatant’s way while maintaining a contemplative and discerning attention. The workshop is created and presented by Fr. Bill Barry, SJ, Fr. Dick Roos, SJ and Fr. Jim Keegan, SJ.
