Praying and Celebrating Together

In recent weeks, The Jesuit Collaborative (TJC) community has gathered together to pray in the Ignatian tradition and to celebrate the season of Advent. Lay women and men, TJC's Ignatian Partners, have led Ignatian Advent meditations in four different cities. At Holy Trinity Church in Washington, D.C., Kathleen Curtin led the prayer, inviting participants to join with the Holy Trinity at table in considering the “perfect gift”. At Old St. Joseph’s Church in Philadelphia, Susan Bowers, director of the Jesuit Center in Wernersville, invited participants to reflect on a painting entitled “Annunciation”, by Henry Ossawa Tanner, and on Mary’s openness and courage of heart. Thom Devlin and Megan Bensley, members of the Contemplative Leaders In Action program, shared their personal experiences and prayers this Advent season with participants at St. Ignatius Church in New York. In Boston, Pat Byrne, a member of TJC’s board of directors, reflected on the growing gloom of this time of year and painted a vivid image of the Light shining in the darkness. Festive gatherings followed each of these meditations. To view photos, click on the links below.
